We’ve rounded up a collection of local news and Flathead happenings we think you should know as we head into May.

Travel + Leisure recently named Glacier National Park’s Going to the Sun Road the #7 most beautiful drive in the world. Read more about the list here.

If you are planning a trip to Glacier National Park this summer, don’t forget your ticket! An online reservation system (ticketed entry) for the Going to the Sun Road corridor between the park’s West and St. Mary Entrances are required between May 28 and September 6, 2021. Find more details here.

Travel + Leisure isn’t the only publication highlighting Glacier National Park. Conde Nast recently analyzed flight data to identify this summer’s most popular travel destinations, where Montana (and Glacier National Park) were touted. Curious about how we stack up? Read more about the list here.

Whitefish Mountain Resort announced the “largest lift investment Whitefish Mountain Resort has ever made” with the installation of the resort’s first high speed six-pack lift out of the Base Lodge area. The new 6-seater will replace the current 3-person Chair 4, installed in 1978. Full construction will take place next summer (2022) and the lift is expected to be ready for the 2022-23 ski season. Read more about it here.

While we continue to experience Montana’s rapid growth through the housing market, the US Census has reported similarly, citing the state’s population growth of 10%, to over 1.08 million. With that growth comes another US House seat, giving the state a total of two. In addition to Montana, Colorado, Florida, North Carolina and Oregon all gained an additional US House seat while Texas gained two. Read more about it here.
